About Fucking Time!
It still pisses me off that they keep referring to this asshole as the "accused" Fort Hood shooter. Sorry, but if 40 people fucking saw you do it, then YOU FUCKING DID IT! HE IS THE FUCKING FORT HOOD SHOOTER!
Anyhwho, he's now facing the death penalty! Hurray! This calls for a....

Libya: Just stay the fxxx out of this one
We still have yet to hear a cohesive vision from any of our elected representatives about what the goal is in Libya, and its reaching a point where its just too shady. I understand that Pres. O's advisors are trying to find him his very own Iraq war in order to appeal to the more right-leaning swing voters out there, but this is the equivalent of a Hail Mary into the 50 yard line grand stands. At least with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there was a definitive difference between the good guys and bad guys (Afghanistan: Taliban and Al Qaeda bad, Northern Alliance good. Iraq: Saddam bad, coalition good). That is not the case in Libya today.
On one hand, you have Muammar Qaddafi, who has been a vocal opponent of the United States for the better part of 40 years. The idea of coming to the rescue of one of the few people who has made no secret of his distaste for every single thing the US stands for is distasteful to the utmost extreme. If NATO and/or the United Nations decide to send in peace keepers or whatever else that's their business, but for the United States to contribute military personnel would be like Superman coming to the aide of Lex Luthor. Fuck that shit.

On the other side you have the Libyan rebels, who according to latest reports are being supported by none other than AL QAEDA (link). If I really have to explain why that's a disgusting proposition, then you obviously haven't been paying attention to the headlines for the last decade. Did anyone miss the part where these assholes are our sworn enemies, hate everything about us and have been actively trying to kill us ever since they beat the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan?
The short version here is that there is no greener side of the fence here. Both options end up with us allying ourselves to people who have hated us with the utmost intensity for a quarter century or more. If we commit troops to this fight, chances are that both sides will settle their differences for no better reason than to kill Americans. Is that really the kind of peace keeping mission we want to devote our men and material to?

Badass Solar Prominence
Another crazy looking picture from NASA. I don't know how they manage to get pics like this, but this particular one looks like it should be hanging on a wall somewhere. Good job guys.

Three Cheers for the Brits
This is the first time i've seen this particular story told, but glad they're on our side. Though America may be a country composed predominately of Pistoleros, we can all appreciate the feats of marksmanship these guys have been accomplishing. Keep up the good work!

Just another $.02 on the Ft Hood shooter, if I may
Holy crap, are you fucking kidding me? I read this and about shat myself. Are we really paying these government officials to spend all their time pointing fingers at the FBI and DoD? I understand that there where signs before hand, but the real issue here is that this asshole KILLED 13 PEOPLE!
All this finger pointing and blame assignment can wait until after we have strung this fucker up bythe neck and shot him in the head. Lets worry about the woulda, shoulda, coulda's after the rotten bastard is 6 feet under ground!
Ok, rant over.

Journalists are Morons - More Evidence
Its funny, but also not. The next time I see some idiot reporter refer to a rifle, two handguns and 500 rounds of ammo as an "arsenal", I'm adding that reporters name to the Cockbag list. If you can't report knowledgeably about firearms related news, then find someone who can (instead of just making yourself look like an ass in front of those of us who know better).

Black Ops First Strike - Thank You Treyarch
Sweet! Not that I'm terribly bored with the original maps (god knows I don't play near often enough for that to be so), but variety is still the spice of life, is it not?
Don't really care about the new zombie level, but I guess there are those out there that are nuttin' their sweat pants over it. Whatever floats your boat guys, have fun. You won't see me there.
The multiplayer maps (the concepts anyway, since I haven't seen any layout s as yet) look pretty pimp. Can't ever have too much snow and ice (plus another smallish or medium would be nice; Summits good, but WMD kinda sucks: too many nooks and crannies for campers and their grannies), and the two urban style ones will be a good addition.
Not 100% sure about the Kowloon map (If its anything like the campaign, then Nuketown will soon be massively eclipsed by the amount of potential death and carnage. Possible name change to 'Massacretown?'). If it turns out to have all the roof hopping and open spaces of the single player map, it will probably be a good thing that Treyarch has hosed up the sniper class for the most part. That being said, there are enough solid players out there that you could end up being cross-mapped by some jackass with a revolver and do nothing but spawn, die, get pissed off and repeat. All theory and conjecture on my part of course, but we'll see what happens come 1 February.
Come to think of it, I'm not 1000% sure about Stadium either (based on the descriptions), but I'll try and stay optimistic that it won't turn into a fxxxing campers playground (meanwhile, back in the real world...). Might be a pipe dream, but time will tell.
Whatever, no complaints from me just yet. Looking forward to it.

What other option is there?
This whole rant will be in reference to this article.
Honestly, where do you think they are going to get the meds they need? Its not like theres a freaking pharmacy on every little COP, FOB and shithole everywhere in Iraq and Afghanistan. These guys can't just wander down to the local walgreens and refill their prescription. You either take along as much medication as you're going to need for the entire deployment, or you go off your meds and potentially become a fully-armed danger to yourself and others.
I know it sounds like a dick thing to say, but if you decide to overdose on the pills you're only endangering yourself. The ugly flip side of that is if you aren't receiving your treatment, you have 500+ rounds of ammunition with which to endanger yourself and everyone else. So let me see here.... Common sense dictates we strive to reduce casualties, so you judge for yourself: a) one suicidal moron kills himself, vs b) one suicidal moron kills or harms 15 of his battle buddies, before turning the gun on himself. Easy decision?
